All Saints Anchorsholme
The Church with the anchor

Welcome to All Saints, Anchorsholme!
We are an evangelical Anglican Church, near Blackpool and have been part of the community since 1962. We’re here to help people love God, to grow in their relationship with Him, and to express His love by loving each other. Take a look around our site, there is so much going on and we warmly invite you to come along to celebrate the living God and learn about His great love for us.

This year’s toy – birthdays should be about toys – is an ipad. Had some time to play with it today. Never even held one before this morning. First impressions, though, are about what it does NOT do! It doesn’t really store stuff, or at least not in the usual way. It’s a bit like Read more

‘Time is an ocean, but it ends at the shore. You may not see me tomorrow” It’s the last line of a song. I always thought it was profound, but actually I don’t really know what it means. It might be all envelope, and no contents. I clock on another year tomorrow, so perhaps that Read more

One of Bagel’s habits (she’s our dog, in case you didn’t know) is, when you open a car door, to go in. She sits on the floor, making herself at home, and is ready to go somewhere. Preferably to the beach. To chase little birds. After the walk (well, run really) she knows it’s time Read more

I blame Mike Williams. By the time I started my ordination training, he was no longer principal of the Northern Ordination Course, but he was brought back to teach Ethics in, I think, the final year. And it was fascinating. In many ways Mike was like the lecturer that taught us thermodynamics at Leicester University. Read more

Thought I’d quietly write my blog while the football is going on. I feel like I should be typing quietly and writing in muted colours. The country, or at least Manchester, sounds like it is indeed hushed and still. Though I grew up in Leigh, Rugby League land, football was still the main sport religion, Read more

You could argue that a lightning conductor is someone who collects fares rapidly, or who gets the orchestra to play very quickly. But the one I’m thinking about is the spike that is a lightning conductor just because of where it is placed and how it is connected. They are usually found on church buildings, Read more
